Q&A with Makeup Artist Koong Xiong of Swanified Beauty:
Hello! My name is Koong Xiong. I am a mom of four and I live locally here in Appleton, WI. I am the sole owner and operator of Swanified Beauty (also located in Appleton, WI). I’ve been a self taught makeup artist since 2017. My services are specialized in traditional makeup application for: weddings/bridal, senior portraits/prom, boudoir, professional headshots, and family photos. I enjoy bringing out the inner beauty of others and also helping blossom the swan in them.
How did you get into the makeup industry?
My sister worked at Mac as a makeup artist and she would practice makeup on me. I loved how it made me feel and wanted to feel it everyday so I practiced by watching a lot of YouTube videos. I am a self taught makeup artist.
And how long have you been a makeup artist?
I have been doing makeup since 2017.
What type of makeup application do you use for clients?
Traditional foundation makeup application.
Do you have a favorite tool in your makeup kit that you can never, ever be without?
I do not but I am particular in the brush hair, thickness, & quality for certain features, such as eyeshadow blending brush, concealer brush, blush brush, etc.
Do you specialize in a particular type of makeup style?
I offer soft and extra glam makeup looks. My all time favorite is extra glam. A loud or smokey eyeshadow paired up with a strong face contour.
And what is it about your style that sets you apart from other makeup artists?
I’m not a one look makeup artist. I create a makeup look tailored to each individual. I’m not afraid to play and create.
What other services do you offer?
Besides makeup application I am a PMU brow artist certified in microblading. Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique used for the eyebrows. Microblading can be used on someone with little to no eyebrows by creating an illusion of hair like strokes to make the brows more defined or fuller.
What beauty advice would you give to women?
Confidence is the best look you can wear.
