The thought of a boudoir session can be intimidating and for some, even scary. When talking to women about their empowering session, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to create a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir session with me!
My number one priority is making sure my clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir! It can be a life changing experience, but that also makes it nerve wracking! Sometimes, you’re learning how to love your body and aren’t quite ready to share the images with the world. Or sometimes these photos are specifically for your spouse and no one else’s eyes. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos and it all depends on your personal preference. There are no wrong answers. If there are photos that I would like to share, I will ask your permission first, and only share what you’re comfortable with!
You definitely don’t! It really depends on you and your personality. By all means you’re welcome to wear lingerie, but there are a bunch of other outfit ideas! And if you’re not sure what to wear, that’s okay! We can talk about it during your consultation and I can even send you my Amazon shopping list for ideas.
Yes, I do have a couple payment options! There’s a booking retainer that is due to book and secure your session date. Then the total amount of your chosen collection is due one week before your session date. If you want more time to be able to pay off the session, you can schedule a few months out and pay it off in monthly payments. Let me know if this is something you’d want to set up.
No, hair and makeup is not included. While I do have a team of talented artists who can help you get photo ready, I do understand that everyone has different preferences on makeup. My amazing team can help you complete your look and you’re encouraged to bring along inspiration as well! You’re also more than welcome to do your makeup yourself as long as you understand that there’s a difference between camera-ready makeup and day-to-day makeup. Some of my bridal clients also choose to book their makeup trial the same day of their session.
I do edit each of your images for light, exposure, color balance and add my little pizzaz. I do NOT however edit anything “out” that is permanent! And I won’t alter your body. I think it can be damaging to have a boudoir session done and then edit out parts of yourself that make you who you are! Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your beauty also means not photoshopping out parts of yourself you don’t like. If there are parts of yourself that you’re learning to love and aren’t thrilled about, that’s okay! I’m skilled in posing and lighting to make you look your absolute best and bring out your confidence! We’ll be sure to capture and focus on the parts you love about yourself.
There are a few different places to buy outfits form and it depends on what you’re wanting and the style of your session. Here’s a list of some of my favorites that have different styling and sizes: Torrid, Aerie, Thistle and Spire, Hello.LA.Girl, Victoria’s Secret, Adore Me, and Honey Birdette. I’ll also send you a list of some of my Amazon favorites too with your prep guide. If you’re looking for something specific that you can’t find, just let me know and I might know where to find it!
I offer a variety of albums, metal prints and luxury glass boxes with prints in them! Albums are my absolute favorite. I love being able to pick up a physical book and flip through all the images. It’s so surreal to see yourself like that. I also love that you’re able to pull it out anytime and equally put it away. Especially with kids in the house haha, it’s nice to be able to tuck it away discreetly. My clients love the metal prints. Being able to hang them up in their closet or bathroom, is a great daily reminder of how beautiful and strong they are.
All of my packages include some sort of print products, and most include some digitals. I also have an Al La Carte list that you can choose from as well. On this list I have an option to add on digital images. These digital images come in a locked and private online gallery for you to download and share.
Nerves are all part of the experience! I always say that it would be weird if you weren’t nervous haha. And after a few poses, I’ll be sure to show you a few of your images behind the camera. This way you can see that you’re doing everything right and you look incredible! After that, you’ll be feeling like a supermodel and you’ll crush your session.
I recommend bringing three outfits. Bring two that you must include, the ones that make you feel like a badass. And then bring a backup outfit or two just in case. Because things happen haha. And if you’re not sure or undecided you can bring more options and I can help you decide.
You should always plan on arriving to your session about 10 minutes early so we can talk about your outfits and colors. We can also go over and plan your hair and makeup together before your makeup artist arrives.
