Q&A with Stephanie of Stephanie Schuh Beauty
How did you get into the makeup industry? And how long have you been a makeup artist?
I always thought about working in the cosmetics department at a department store. I thought it would be a fun job. It turns out that I love helping people and make them feel good about themselves. I started doing makeup in 2003 and have been at it for 20 years.
What type of makeup application do you use for your clients?
I use both airbrush and traditional makeup. Airbrush doesn’t fit everyone. If the client has facial hair, airbrush can make it look more prominent. Traditional makeup has come a long way and it is my preferred method. You can get the same finish as airbrush makeup.
Do you have a favorite tool in your makeup kit that you can never, ever be without?
It would have to be my brushes. My favorite brush is by Smith Cosmetics and it is the 232 brush. It is amazing at blending eyeshadow.
Do you specialize in a particular type of makeup style? And what is it about your style that sets you apart from other makeup artists?
I love enhancing clients natural beauty. I prefer not to do heavy makeup. So natural glam makeup looks are my favorite.
What other services do you offer?
I am a licensed esthetician so I also have a studio where I offer facials, lash lift and tints, brow laminations and lash extensions
What beauty advice would you give to women?
Wear sunscreen. Don’t just rely on sunscreen in your makeup. You should be using a separate sunscreen every day. Dark spots and wrinkles are something you don’t think about when you are young. You will wish you had done this when you were younger.
